Day Of The Dead art by patrushka
The Day of the Dead is a festive holiday celebrated in Mexico and other parts of the world during November 1st & 2nd. Even though this coincides with the Catholic holiday called All Soul’s & All Saint’s Day, the indigenous people have combined this with their own ancient beliefs of honoring their deceased loved ones.

Recuerdame - (remember me)
Recuerdame - (remember me)
This piece was inspired by my own diagnosis of terminal ovarian cancer and everything that the Day of the Dead is about. One hopes to be remembered by their loved ones. A few of the earthly things I love are included in the image, a jellyfish (hat), pinkish hair, the forests, oceans and sky.
“Remember me, today I have to leave, my love
Remember me, please don't cry
I carry you in my heart and I'll be close
Alone, I'll sing for you, dreaming of returning”
