Portrait art with geisha inspirations by Patrushka
An ongoing Geisha art series.
Geisha – The word consists of two kanji, 芸 (gei) meaning “art” and 者 (sha) meaning “person” or “doer”. The most literal translation of geisha into English would be “artist,” “performing artist,” or “artisan.”

Geisha Circus Girls
Inspired by my love of the vintage and especially old time circus aesthetics. These two women are partners in performance and possibly in other ways – seductively masked, dressed in fine muslin, posing with their magic wands.
Size: 14” wide X 17” tall, in vintage carved wood frame
Medium: Oil on wood panel
