abandoned places and scenes
Once We Were Here contains landscape and urban scenes, occasionally with a surreal juxtaposition. Often of abandoned places or forgotten things, void of human life. Sometimes with an apocalyptic feel, or a future world in which the environment has been altered by humanities presence. Many questions were inspirations – who lived here? Where have they gone? And often an appreciation for long gone vintage styles in architecture or rustic hand painted signage.

Clothesline
A new piece for my ongoing “Once We Were Here…” series, this piece asks questions of our future within a parched environment. Will we still have water to drink, much less to wash our clothes? Will women still have party dresses? Was this dress left by someone long ago, now departed from our earth?
“Why can’t I try on different lives, like dresses, to see which fits best and is more becoming?”
– Sylvia Plath –
