abandoned places and scenes
Once We Were Here contains landscape and urban scenes, occasionally with a surreal juxtaposition. Often of abandoned places or forgotten things, void of human life. Sometimes with an apocalyptic feel, or a future world in which the environment has been altered by humanities presence. Many questions were inspirations – who lived here? Where have they gone? And often an appreciation for long gone vintage styles in architecture or rustic hand painted signage.
Behind the Blue Heron
Behind the Blue Heron
In back of the Blue Heron restaurant (Duncan’s Mills, California), there is an abandoned storage shack with their old signage leaning against it. This sign is so great and I wish they would restore it before it rots away. So I decided to paint it in all it’s vintage calligraphy glory.
