Franklina & Washingtonia
These two paintings are a pair - transgender flips on our former presidents - Benjamin Franklin and George Washington. I thought it would be interesting to flip the sex of two of our most notable leaders, to suppose “what if”? What if we had had women leaders through out our history, instead of a long, long line of men? A fantasy of equality which someday may change… I think when that day does come, our world will be a more compassionate and empathetic place and it can’t happen soon enough.
